I am currently in the middle of the SL 5x5 program with good results. However, there is a bit of controversy about the effectiveness of the 5 set program and comparing it to starting strength (Rippetoe - similar but 3 sets) and wondered if anyone else had achieved good results and where to go from here?
As it stands my stats/lifts are:
Height - 5ft 10
Weight - 73kg
(Below weights are completed 5 reps per set for 5 sets, includes collars which are 1.25kg each apparently)
Bench : 85kg
Squat - 130kg
Bent over row - 75kg
Military press - 57.5kg
Weighted pulls ups - 10kg
Weighted dips - 22.5kg
Deadlifts (only 1 set of 5) - 135kg
So basically would like to know whether it would be best to stick with said program or maybe mix it up a bit. For the people who don't know its an alternating program :
Workout A - Squat, Bench, Bent over, (I add weighted dips)
Workout B - Squat, Military press, Deads, (I add weighted pull ups)
Basically 3 days a week alternating between A + B.
