Scar after recent eyebrow cut very red after MMA training?

I got 6 stitches on the eye brow after bumping heads at practice. It healed really well and it seemed there would be little scarring. The first 3 weeks after the cut I was only doing cardio and lifting weights, but 2 days ago I did MMA again, and it made the scar very red! The redness looks to have gone down a bit in the 2 days since but it still looks bad compared to before the training.

What causes this? Blood pressure from chokes makes the blood vessel burst or something? Should I take a longer break for it to heal properly with minimal long term scarring, or won't it matter in the long run that it goes red?

Thanks in advance
