Now I teach at this gym. I'm the one throwing seoi nage at the end of our intro video under the "Media" section.

much respect for teaching kids. i don't think i have what it takes to do that. being able to show something with words is harder that for me to show, "ok guys watch me do it like this". like in your video you telling them about the follow threw. it would have reminded me after a kid got hurt then,"oh yea guys don't hold back too much"....

"every second your not training, he is..... and he is doing it, just to kick your ass"

you can make it longer if your pushing the action, if there is the stall, your not trying to finish, pin, or depending on the ref. up you go. most of the time if your really putting in some work they will let you go longer that 5 seconds.

Grips are very important in Judo so you have make use of them while you have them but i'm not actually sure and i think its a very stupid rule.

Well I'm not a big Judo guy, I used to do it when i was really small and am trying to get back into it again, so this is prolly gonna sound stupid, but maybe you could for a soto makikomi? I've tried it and its actually pretty quick to learn, and it seems like you could take a pretty heavy guy with that. What belt is he?
