Cut out fatty foods (I knw it's tough)
Cut out red meats (steak, ham, moo cow, horse, ect.) Eat lean chicken and turkey.(for lunches or dinner)
for breakfast eat whole grain cereals and fruit and veggies.
For lunch eat a good healthy meal with fruits and veggies.
all of this will lessen your calorie intake so when you workout and exercise you'll quickly get rid of those calories and then start losing muscle and fat.
Notice I said you do lose muscke. So part of you exercise should be weight lifting.
