Cycling conditioning

Well lets just say the treadmill or any cardio machine at the gym isnt really for me...if im going to be doing cardio id prefer to do it alone and in a good environment (gym isnt one for me).Im doing this mostly for hockey and to get in better shape all together so i can last for the whole kickboxing workout.I play division 1 hockey at my highschool so im not a completely lazy bastard but just not in the shape id like to be.

So with that said id like it if i could receive some tips on how to go about biking and some good biking workouts you guys do and maybe i could fit it into my plan....

Any advice is appreciated

Hm...... I wonder if I should take this one? Guys you ok with that?

What kind of bike do you own?

Tagheur 06-22-2007 12:56 PM

My bike isnt that great its a bit old but its real solid so im confident it can handle the workout i want....

That still doesn't answer my question..... What kind of bike is it? Your type of bike will determine how you are going to ride it and workout.

If it's a BMX bike or beach cruiser, I would suggest getting a different bike. The ideal (imo) bike is a road bike. Mountain bikes are good too.

So... for the second time. What kind of bike do you own?

Yeah sorry about that i completely missed what you asked lol

Its a good size mountain bike and is solid.

Actually i dont know if id say its a mountain bike the tires arent real thick with grips on them more of a road bike id say

Start off getting used to the bike and how it feels. I ride on a weekly schedule. You want to shoot for 30 to 40 miles a week. Throw in some hills.

What are you looking to do?

Tagheur 07-08-2007 05:14 PM

Yeah 30-40 sounds good and its what ive been doin approximately 5-10 a day and i have some off days but my bike ****ed up today...

So i fixed my bike and getting used to the difference...yesterday i went 5-6 miles in 40 minutes through the city hills and slopes its cool and today i did the same path in 30 minutes its a good workout tomorrow i may take an offday or ima go out and go a little farther and match it the next day..im just trying to pace myself so far till i get in better shape.
