cauliflower ear
what are your opinions? some say that it's part of the sport and to take it like a man. others disagree and think that there's nothing "wimpy" about trying to prevent it.
so here's the real question for you real fighters: do you attempt to prevent cauliflower ear from forming by (draining, taping, etc...)? take care |
When your ears start to break it hurts like hell so why wouldnt you prevent it? I tried as long as i could but sooner or later theyll be there anyway, i got them after about 3 years..

It's part of being a fighter, that's true, but they should also be prevented as best they can. Any kind of injury, whether it's a sprain or a broken bone or a cauliflower should try to be prevented in training.
I usually drain and tape them when the guys I train with get them. It's the easiest way to train through it, that I know of. |

I agree 100%. Any injury is bad. Pain is ... well ... Painful:dunno: So why not try to avoid it. Now I dont tap easily in a fight. If I have to suffer for a little if I think I can escape, then so be it. But in a training session and not in a real fight...there nothing wrong with trying to avoid injury. Besides the fact that I think cauliflower ear is the worst looking and hardest to avoid inury...It will happen to everyone eventually. :( |
Try wearing ear protecting head gear. It costs like $15

Im mainly a stand up guy but my ears seem fuller than before I started grappling....they used to hurt but not any more....
I just try not to get choked to much but if I get them bad I will drain them and tape them...I tought of buying head gear but that shit gets in ur eyes... how do u guys tape them? is there a specific way or just tape the ears? |
