Neck Injury

Long story short.

Was caught in an arm triangle from mount and the guy squeezed but it didn't hurt for about 2 seconds then next thing I know, I'm tapping and laying on the floor because my neck is in pain.

It took me about 2 minutes to stand up then I couldn't move my neck in circles for another 10 or so.

Now I can move my neck but sometimes it hurts.

Any idea what happened?

Sounds to me like he had your neck stacked on top of his arms, and when he pressured through it ended up cranking your head back. It's real easy to turn and arm triangle into a neck crank if you're doing it from a top position. You're probably going to have to take a load off for a few days.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

Sounds like a neck crank take it easy until you feel zero discomfort or it will never go away. When I was a newbie in jiu-jitsu class I was caught with a neck crank and I kept training for weeks thru the pain and I ended up having a pinched nerve that took months to go away.

possible muscle spasm.. its a reaction of your neck muscles to the trauma it felt during the triangle..

if this post has been more than a week and you still feel it, you need xrays...

but im guessing you probably have full range of motion now?

good luck with the injury.

That sucks. Today in jiujitsu I rolled with this guy that has to be about twice as strong as I am. He got an arm triangle locked in and squeezed so hard I felt pops in my neck and spine in at least 5 place. I was lucky. It felt pretty good after I tapped and he released. It didn't feel like a neck crank. It felt like my head was pushed up (away from my shoulders) so hard that it stretched my spine. That's just what it felt like... I have no idea what really happened.
