Droping Weight / Training Right?
Hey guys,
New to MMA and have yet to begin my training in a gym as i feel i need to get into my appropriate weight class first. Currently I weight in around 265 and i want to get into the 205 weight class. I'm 17 years old at 6'1" and am a big guy (very broad shoulders and overall just a thick guy. pictures below)
First question is do u think this is possible?
I am currently taking Xyience Xelerate.
For the past four weeks i have run as much as possible typically doing the below routine 4-6 times a week. Below is my entire routine for running, on top of this 4 days a week i hit the gym to get muscle endurance and build up my abs and arm strength + every night before I go to bed i do 40 pushups:
Part 1
Stretch
Run about 1.5km
Rest to catch my breathe [3mintues ish]
Part 2 (Perform 2-3 times depending on how I feel that day)
Sprint 65m x 4
10 pushups
Hop on right foot 35m
Hop on left foot 35m
Rest to catch my breathe [3minutesish]
Part 3 (Perform 3x)
Sprint 40m
Hop on both feet 25m
Jog backwards down a hill (small hill only about 10m jog)
Run back up hill
Jog backwards down hill
Run back up hill
Job backwards down hill
Sprint 35m (back up the hill + some)
Sprint 30m (back to the hill)
Job backwards down hill
Sprint up and back to start (50m)
Rest 1 minute
Part 4 (perform once)
Sprint 40m
Do 10 pushups
Sprint 40m
Do 10 pushups
Sprint 40m
Do 10 pushups
Sprint 40m
Do 10 pushups
Rest 25-30seconds
Sprint 65m x 4
Does this sound ok to you? any changes you suggest?
Again I have yet to start my gym training for BJJ/Mauy Thai/Wrestling/etc. as i want to get into the light heavyweight division.
Thanks,
Any help is appreciated
-Kent S.

Well to drop that much weight you gotta eat right and do ALOT of cardio. The routine looks pretty good, More than I do as far as running and sprinting. What kind of results have you noticed in the last month??

Well 5-10 pounds would be an eays goal. In due time from training you might lose even more. You have a gut on you and that should only fade the more you work it. Throw some jump roping in and maybe some curls to work the gut. But depending on the weather around your area maybe you can wear heavier clothing while running. Make you sweat a little more to drop more weight. But make sure you drink more then too. Or you could join a sauna and sit it out.

right diet is most important i think. you can easily drop weight without doing shit if you eat right.
Try to get used to not eating a lot - yes it's a habit. i used fell hungry unless i ate a good/big meal, now small sandwich or a fruit is enough. No flour based shit, no eating after 6pm (it's hardest part, especially after a doobie).
Also, don't wait with starting training - first of all, it's gonna help you get in shape (try to roll with a guy for 30 minutes in GI... sweat like a pig) and second if you get comfortable with 265 lets say - everything is gonna be a whole lot easier when u'r 205

It is IMPOSSIBLE for my to stop eating after 6pm as i have DINNER on a regular basis around 8pm. however I go to sleep at 1am so isnt that enough time to digest my food?
I eat fairly healthy so my diet shouldnt be a problem.

You need to eat healthy and do cardio to lose weight. I would suggest cutting the amount of carbs you eat in half and lowering your calories to 2,000-2,500 a day. Stay away from white bread, sugars, and unhealthy food in general. Try to focus on lean proteins, whole grains, wheat bread, fruits, and VEGETABLES. Drink lots of water as well

drink lors of water. LOTS of cold water. the colder the better. also, if you need to snack- snack on celery. water and celery both burn calories. crazy but true. cut out excess fats- mayo, egg yolks, butter, etc. watch your sodium intake! high sodium levels lead to water retention. Increase your fiber intake. a good fiber balance can help regulate your weight and aid with weight loss.
if you want more diet help, see my thread "Re-evaluate Your Diet" it has articles that discuss a low calorie diet which will be essential to getting yourself down to 205.
