Best Calorie burning run?

Usually I run approximitly 1.5 - 2 miles a night.
every night.
I'm trying to lose the extra fat around my torso, and a just a little off my arms since thats all i have, and then i wanna start lifting and really building muscle,
during my run im usually jogging/running, and towards the end i try to sprint periodically maybe 2-3 times for about 15-20 yards each.
would doing pure sprinting be a better way to lose weight?
or should i just consistently jog/run?
at the moment that is my only exercise that im doing, since i don't have my gym membership yet, so is running alone going to allow me to lose the extra weight i have? im naturally fit, through 8 years of martial arts, that i recently stopped.
also, any advice on dieting to lose weight?

THANKS GUYS [=[=

DIET: Go to JohnBerardi.com and read EVERYTHING. Consider buying one of his books, they're well worth it. One in particular, is the "Grappler's Guide to Sports Nutrition", as it talks about diet for combat athletes, as well as bodybuilders, briefly. It's a very good base to start with.

Without further information, comparing jogging to sprinting is basically apples and oranges. LSD (long, steady distance) will only burn fat as long as you are going, but sprinting will keep your heart rate up for significantly longer after stopping. Consider looking into Ross Enamait's Infinite Intensity, as it will answer all your questions and more, and his physique is testament to the results his programs produce. If that's not enough, his website has plenty of testamonials.
