Meditation and Relaxation

A number of responses to my thread "One Inch Punch" have touched upon the importance of meditation and relaxation in all of the martial arts.Indeed;in Jay Gluck's classic book Zen Combat, he stated that none other than Kyokushinkai master Masutatsu Oyama once conducted an experiment where he trained one student for a period of time in all the physical strength building techniques, weights, etc. For the same period of time, he trained another student in just meditation and katas, no strength traing as such whatsoever.Jay Gluck stated that the result of the experiment was that the student who studied mediation and relaxation easily defeated the student who had become unbelievably strong! In Gilbey's book Secret Fighting Arts of the World, he talks about someone who devoted all of his training to breathing, meditation, and relaxion, and who ultimately became quite formidable. Thus, my question:What is your favorite meditation technique? What is your favorite relaxation technique? What is your favorite breathing exercise? Sincerely, Ferdelance
