Talking Tips

Im 1-0 in amature mma. My training is i work on my stand up at home (Muay thai) and go to a bjj class. There are no mma clubs near me so thats what i do. At home i have a small gym set up in my garage that has all the stuff a normal kickboxing gym has. I find sparring just before my fights. My quetstion is what can i do to improve my game. Im a 21 year old college student on a low income so the bjj class is the only pro teaching i can afford.(i have taken karate in the past and im always looking up new things to help me improve my Muay thai) thanx

I'm assuming you have a heavybag so just work on your form and make sure that you are striking correctly. You don't want to form bad habits, so try and setup a mirror so that you can see yourself when you are using the heavybag to make sure your form is correct. Shadowbox, a lot, this really does help. I need a little more info to help you out more.

Are you a southpaw or do you fight orthodox?

How good is your striking?

What are your strengths and weakness in striking?

How well do you do in sparring sessions?

I'll start with those questions and go from there.

I am a southpaw

my striking is pretty good but could always use improvement. My style is Muay thai and never actually trainied with an instructor in it. I learn from a karate class i used to take used to box and through books/DVD

My strengths are power and my weaknes is the speed in my kicks.

I spar with my uncle who has mo martial arts experience and thats the best i got

I know with this training routine ill never get anywhere. I fight at a small show right now and once i graduate college will find an mma school
