Hey all a question about maltodextrin

Hi guys, I have been taking ON 100% Whey protein for about 3 months now and have seen a steady increase in my weight. I know I can't be massive in a short amount of time but I would like to further increase my body size as I still feel to lean. I already have a good workout it's just I was wondering about maltodextrin or anything else that can help increase my weight.

is maltodextrin dangerous at all? like can it increases chances of diabetes etc?

also if I buy it do I just get it in powder form? how much of it am I supposed to mix with my post workout ON 100% whey protein shake etc.

Answers would be greatly appreciated

Not significantly more than eating tons of other sugars. But if you're trying to make your body larger, are you trying to add muscle or fat? Because eating sugars pretty much only leads to fat...

I want it to eventually lead to muscle, but now I still feel my whole body build is too small, so I feel some body fat can help as I just want to be bigger generally.

Please don't add sugars to your diet to get bigger. You will just get fat and lazy (lol). If you want to get bigger, keep training and make sure you are taking the appropriate amount of protein. Increase your calories consuming good/healthy whole foods as well as your protein powders. Drink lots of water throughout the day with the protein as well. But please don't think that adding sugar to your diet is a way to help you bulk up. If you want love handles then go ahead. But sugar will just lead to fat and not muscle. I assume you want a bigger more muscular look. If you add fat you may get bigger (fatter) but you will not like the way your body looks. Remember the more fat on your body, the less defined you will appear making you actually look smaller.

Good luck!

Thanks for that. However I still want to pack on some fatty weight to be completely honest as I am not currently happy with my build. Like some places are big (biceps, six pack etc) but some places are too thin, like above my pecs (which are not bad) I can sometimes see the bones which makes me feel really bad. I wouldn't mind putting on weight to be honest, that's my goal. I have a ridiculously fast metabolism and I want to be able to gain some weight faster.

Fair enough. However, I still do not recommend adding sugar to accomplish this. Even with a high metabolism, you will feel sluggish adding sugar. If you want to bulk up, I still recommend adding more "good" calories. Eat whole foods and up your "good" carbs. You will accomplish the same thing without the negative side effects of sugars in your body. Add a couple Meal Replacement Shakes to your diet. This is a quick boost of extra calories and usually (depending on which one you choose) is full of extra vitamins and protein. Some actually taste really good as well!

I guess I'm saying be smart. Sugars are empty calories that will do nothing more than promote pure fat growth. You can still add some fat growth with other means AND accomplish more muscle grwoth at the same time. Basically . . . EAT MORE!!

Good luck either way my friend!!

Knock yourself out, but if you accomplish that, remember that we warned you.

Unfortunately, very few people distribute fat evenly. Men get it around the gut, chicks in the butt and thighs. You'll get an ugly gut long before you fill out other places.

b00mknockout has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Ramzee

maltodextrin is a good idea, but timing is key

yes it's a sugar, and yes it's not a "magic bean" protein thing

but

use it after your workout along with whey:
it will quickly replenish your muscle glycogen(does the job right away)
it will spike your insulin (yes this is good)
it will increase the uptake of nutrients and spark muscle growth

and yea.. your whole diet is much more important - eat 5+ meals a day distribute them evenly, focus on all of the macros

I have decided not to delve into it. However I do want to use supplements/shakes etc

I already own ON 100% whey protein Gold standard and am going to start taking it in the morning and post work out. Do you guys reccomend me throwing in a Creatine Monohydrate product? Also when should I take it in accordance with the whey protein.

Remember the goal is to just become bigger and put on weight! Thanks again guys
