The OFFICIAL bad training day thread
Alright guys, this thread is here to vent about the days where you feel like you just couldn't do anything right when you were training. You know, the days where you were submitted more than you submitted others, the days where you were lit-up like a Christmas tree and your opponent was unscathed. Feel free to post your frustrations here, not only to make yourself feel relief, but to provide a laugh to everyone else.
I can't post anything now, because I surprisingly had an awesome day of training where I feel as though I made progress. Don't worry though, I'm sure I'll have something to write about after my two classes on saturday!
On a side note, I let out a huge fart when I was rolling the other day as I was going for a sweep. Luckily for me, neither my partner nor the other students noticed, they thought it was my foot-rubbing off the mats.. How embarrassing.

Today was pretty shitty. Not in the sense that I didn't have fun, because I love training, but I got my ass handed to me, really bad. I didn't get any submissions, but I did ALMOST submit a purple belt, which was cool. But his superior skill and experience helped him get out. Also, some guy got me in a calf slicer, and my leg still hurts.

Most of my class yesterday was good. We worked basic guard stuff: triangle/armbar/omoplata sequence.
During sparring, though, I was doing pretty well, submitting everybody pretty easily (I'm one of the more senior guys now, so it's coming pretty easy) until I decided to roll with one of my larger training partners (he's about 220 pounds) for my last round of the day.
My thought process was, more or less: I'm tired and it will make me work my technique.
Anyway, we were rolling and I usually take his back pretty easily, but he decided to stand up to prevent me from taking the back (he's about 8 inches taller than me, so I can't get up that easily).
We got in the clinch and he decided to jump guard, and came down on my knee. It's on ice right now, but I'm a little pissed that I'll lose a day of training. There doesn't seem to be any long term damage, because I can walk on it, but it hurts like a b*tch.

The worst experiance I had was going out to train in the garage and for some reason after my first set of bag punches and a rep or two of lifting I was just gone. Dont know what I ate or did but I could not for the life of me get any training done. It was like trying to run with a 300pound person on my back. I was fine the next time around in a couple days but wow, that sucked.

Alright, so last night our class had a relatively small turn-out, and it started off pretty well.
We got into partners, where one of us would start off in side control, and the other would have to scramble to claim either half-guard or full-guard.
So my partner started out ontop, he weighed about 185lbs (the same as me), and I swept him and scrambled back to guard---even taking his back once or twice thanks to my long legs and flexibility. I probably managed to reverse my position about 8 times in 5 minutes, which I felt was good considering the person I was wrestling against has wrestled for about 6 years, training MMA for about a year.
Finally, we switched positions so I was on-top, and my opponent only managed to reverse me once in 5 minutes, so I was pretty proud of myself.
So, for some reason my one coach suggests that we do some body conditioning (shin, quad, etc), by kicking the heavybag and each others' legs. So as I'm working on my technique, I threw a kick and misjudged the wobbling of the heavy bag and hit the meaty part of my foot flush.
Then after beating the shit out of our legs we went back to grappling and I took on the coach, who absolutely worked me. He's been training for 2 years now, was training 7-days a week, whereas I've been there 3 months, and it seemed as though no matter where I went, or if I reversed a submission attempt he would have, I'd end up in trouble somewhere else.
He subbed me probably 6 times in 10 minutes, and my confidence level just went to total shit. I went from feeling proud of myself to feeling absolutely useless on the mat, and to add insult to injury I have an enormous bruise that engulfs the entirety of my right foot.
Hopefully saturday's class is better for me..

aside from the bruised foot that sounds like a really good day to me.
I love being humbled and strongly prefer to train with those better than me. Just analyze what happened and try to not let the same thing happen again .

Haha thanks. I guess I need to try looking at what happened positively, he has been there a lot longer than I have been, so his experience and technique is bound to be better. He definitely is in better physical condition than me, and that played a big role in him outscrambling me, I'm just going to have to keep going at it. Thanks for the words of encouragement!

First off hope the sat. training goes better.
Completely different training because I'm doing triathlon training right now. On Wednesday I did a heavy leg workout at the gym and since I have a little time before the next tri I pushed the weights up higher instead of just doing endurance low weight/high rep work. After being done I could hardly walk and had the leg shakes- haven't have that in a loooong time. So I was supposed to do a hard bike ride(hill training) yesterday but I was too sore so I took an off-day. I was still tight today but I figured after warming up I'd be all good- nope.
I get to the Mt. Bonnell hill(it's brutally hard as it takes around 5 minutes to get up and has three different levels) first time up is terribly hard but I decide to do another one- um yeah I pretty much squealed like a little girl getting up the last part. Couldn't catch my breath and was sweating like a pig. It's over 100 here which is not unusual and I like to train in the heat but it took it out of me today. I was planning on riding for another hour but I ended up riding for only 20 more minutes as I couldn't recover and I limply made it home.

Ive heard epsom salts in a bath is really good for sore muscles, I know several marathon runners who have used it and they say it helps a lot.
This week was way better than the past 2 weeks but I am still sucking air whenever I approach 5 miles. pathetic. and I still only run about a 9:45 mile average.
Are you doing a small triathlon or the full on one? How do you train swimming for that anyway?
A couple women at my local have done them but they were really small mini ones.
