neck injuries

what's up guys?

i think i might have strained some fibers in my neck last night while grappling. i really don't want to take any time off, but i'm wondering how serious it could get if i continue to train. basically, i was put in a neck crank that left me with a "stiff neck" all last night and into this morning. you know that sharp pain you get when you try to turn to one side or the other. anyway, is there anything i can do before i go back to jiu-jitsu tonight or should i just give it a rest.

Well you could do a few neck exercises to strengthen it a bit. Have someone put pressure on it while you try to move it in various directions. Do some bridges as well. If it's already hurting, you can get a heating pad or put ice on your neck (don't make a habit of icing your neck after every practice that's not really good) Bridges help strengthen your neck . Ya.. having a sore neck is a pain in the ass. Just give it some'll go away.
