U should look around your town and find a local gym and get on a lifting program It wouldnt hurt either to take some jj classes or whatever you need work in. Its good these days to be well rounded in every area. Do you have a wrestling background? You should also start running and working on your stamina.

the whole advice that can be given is dependant on age but starting bbj or even boxing would be a start

Hmm..really depends how old you are. If you are really serious about it....join a MMA gym and learn as much as you can from BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing etc.. A.S.A.P. Hope you're not 16 or 17 becuase if your goal is to join UFC by 20...dream on, not saying your dream will be crushed but...first, you got to fight in small shows and have a decent record. You have to have a lot of experience then you send your tape showcasing all your skills to the UFC and they review, and if they think your worth it, you have your Debut. Remember you got to make sure that this is what you want. If you are serious about it, this will be your life.

True! Between lifting training and cardio... the ONLY other thing I do is study and go to class. I am in premed/emt school so life is pretty ritual(! love these forums ;D)

Will your parents support you? have you even asked them if you can join a MA gym?? If not..then I suggest you watch some instructional videos that are on my request thread, and learn some techniques from there. Learn as much as you can from any resource. Once you feel that you've had enough gather couple of your friends and just hold some MMA classes....try learning takedowns, submissions, and just build some crappy ass pads..or something. I seriously don't think you can be successful without joining a gym man....since you'll develop bad habits with the advice i just gave you but since you said you got no $...it's worth a shot.
