Realistic Goal (New and Needing to Lose Weight)
Hey... I hate to be the n00b who asks a stupid question, but I'm not looking for information (that's easy enough to find)... I'm looking for opinions.
I'm 6'0" and 225 pounds (roughly) at the moment. I have a rather dense frame, and people are surprised to find out my weight (in other words, that weight is far from being "all fat"). I'm hitting the gym a lot in addition to my BJJ class. I have a chance to enter a BJJ/grappling tournament on August 23rd.
I've been working on diet in addition to gym time. I'm eating small bits every 2-3 hours between meals (which I've more or less reduced in size and intake of short carbohydrate chains) to keep the metabolism active.
I want to know, do you think it's realistic for me to shoot for the 88kg to 98kg weight class (98kg = 215.6lbs) class, or should I bank on staying in the 99kg and up weight class? I don't want to do any crazy (or dangerous) weight loss stuff... like heavy fasting or dehydration or anything else of that nature.
Thanks.
