You could try Xtend by Scivation. It's a powder you mix in water and it's full of amino acids that you can consume before workout/sparring of during to maintain energy. Amino Acids are what fuel your muscles and are essential. I would definitely give it a try it's not very expensive and it doesn't taste bad either.
Greens will give you energy but it's not like your going to eat a salad before you go to the gym and they won't be enough to carry you through a workout
Sugar isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sugar/Carbs are great for a post workout insulin spike!
