Pros and DL/SQ

Why is it that I never see the pro fighters doing deadlifts and squats in ufc all access?

I'm sure most fighters do squats. Especially Wrestlers.

Maybe they just never show it. There are variations of squats.

I saw Chris Leben doing rack-pulls of UFC Countdown, those are basically what they call "half deadlifts" or "partial deadlifts"

More people should though, they are very good exercises for almost any sport

More input? I really want to know it. Just saw anderson and shoguns training videos and they are doing isolation exercises, can you tell me why?

I don't think increasing maximal strength is that essential for fighters, because most of them already have a solid strength foundation. There are so many things to do when it comes to fighting and realistically strength training is one of the last things on that list. And Kongo is seen doing deadlifts in his UFC All Access I believe.

As far as isolation exercises, some of them have their places in routines, but I think most great fighters, such as A. Silva, succeed despite their workout program, not because of it.

We never see fighters training until a few weeks out from a fight, and doing heavy compound exercises then isn't exactly efficent time use, and you aren't goign to be gaining much strength at that phase anyway.
