How much weight do you want to gain and what weight would you want to compete at? I would take that into consideration because if you want to be a 135 pounder the I would say dont gain too much because a ten pound cut for a smaller guy isnt bad and if you want to be a 145 you wouldnt have to gain much but you could go up to like 55 or so.

Well what are your plans for mma? You want to get into it? Or do you actually want to have some sanctioned fights for money?

If you just want to do it for sport, fun and fitness then pick a weight you want to be at. If I had to fight professionally i'd definitely fight at 155. But I walk around just over 170lbs. If you want to fight seriously then you should probably focus on staying close to 135lbs.

For food you need to eat a balance of things, lots of protein 1-1.5g per lbs of body weight you have. But more importantly you need to eat clean. And by that I mean: no junk food, no fast food, nothing with saturated fat, no soda/beer. You should be eating lots of lean chicken breasts, fruits, vegetables. But dont be afraid to eat richer meats, cheese or milk, because you want to gain some healthy weight. I'd also suggest picking up some protein shakes from GNC.

For cardio you need running, sprints etc. 30-45minutes of cardio that you feel comfortable in 3-5times a week, slowly increasing in difficulty.

You also need carbs. If you want to improve your cardio (both aerobic and anaerobic alike) you need the fuel to do that, and that's carbs.

40/40/20 might be good for someone like you. More protein than an endurance athlete would eat, but enough carbs for you to train your cardio properly. If you're out of glycogen, you're out of energy and can't push yourself hard enough in training to really improve the cardiovascular systems.

Good luck.

Just my diet. I'm no MMA fighter so I don't know what you're looking for in a diet. Low fat, moderate protein, moderate carbs is what this consists of. Been on it for about two weeks now, have seen some big time gains in getting leaner and maintaining muscle at the same time. Thought I'd share it.
