I agree about smith machine squats not being solid, he should just start off like anyone else, real low weight, with HUUUGE emphasis on form. I learned squatting after about a year of lifting, so around age 14. My football coach taught them to us new guys with big broom sticks doing sets of like 50 until we could crank em out with great form. Sort of the same premise as doing OH squats with a broomstick till you learn it.
I heartily accept the motto, "That government is best which governs least"; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically.
