your pretty young dude, you shouldn't be weight lifting. like heavy lifting if you know what i mean. if i were you i'd just work on pushups pulls up chin ups squats and stuff like that. that'll get you big using your body weight, wait till your a little older to start messing with like heavy weights and screwing with your metabolism.
the protein i don't think is too necessary, your youung so just eat right. your probably thinking it's super hard and what not, i'm sixteen and i can do it. when your at the grocery instead of ham pick up turkey breast, which is WAY tastier and better for you. contains some good protein. look up more on good eating work on weight, then 14 or so i'd start lifting and drinking protein and what not

There is nothing wrong with taking protein if your going to work out even at 13. The thing is you should really have one session with a trainer so they can teach you the proper way to workout when your so young.
And I can already tell you, the protein your going to get from Wal-Mart is going to taste like shit, doesn't mean it bad protein, overall protein is the same weather its no name brand or Muscle Milk. But Muscle milk just tastes oh so good...mmmm Mocha Latte.

This is crazy, there is no reason you shouldn't be both lifting weights and taking protein at 13 so long as you A) lift with proper form B) Don't go apeshit on the protein and take too much.
I'd say the Walmart stuff couldn't be of too high a quality though, might as well shell out for the good stuff.
Wish I could go back to when I was 13 and start training properly.

Word. If only we knew how it would pay off in the long run back then.

Whey Protein is Whey Protein. The only difference is some are higher in quality. Wal-Mart protein isn't the best but it'll get the job done and there is no harm in taking whey protein. Just make sure that you aren't subsituting it for real food when you have real food around to eat.
Some people will say 13 is too young to train but if you are doing so properly, with good form and coupled with proper nutrition and lots of rest, you'll do fine.
Being you are so young you may want to find person with some more experience to workout with you so they can make sure you are doing everything right.

Its all good man, lift right, eat right, you'll get strong. I started lifting at 13 and have no problems from it, just got stronger younger.
