Just Need a Little Help!!!

So I've got some questions that need expert advice, and I couldn't think of any where to start but right here. Ok, I am 23 Years old and I really want to get started learning the way around MMA and what I need to do to become a fighter. I have zero experience, but I have nothing to lose. I have wanted to be a fighter since I was a kid, but between taking care of family members in need and just trying to survive in this economy I have had no time to pursue anything. I am finally in a situation that is stable and have an chance to do it. I dont want to hesitate or wait any longer. Here is what I need to know..... How do I get started? Where can I go to get the proper training? Is my Height and weight going to be an issue? I am 5,5 and 155lbs. And Last but not least What is a good Martial art to learn? I am willing to move anywhere in the US to make this dream come true. I appreciate you if you took the time to read this. Thanks very much.

Welcome to the forum. First off there are a lot of knowledgable members here that can help you, even a couple of fighters that can give you advice.

Btw, this might be moved to the training section.

Check out this site http://www.fightresource.com/# and search your state for schools in your area. Sometimes if you are beat financially, some instructors and owners of schools will let you do shit jobs like clean mats and teach kiddie classes in exchange for a free membership and access to classes.

It's up to you what martial art you want to learn. For your stature, Wrestling and Boxing would probably be your best bet.

If you put in serious time training you could realistically be fighting in under a year. How much $$$ you make is something else entirely .

Kamikaze145 should be able to help you as I know he's had a few fights himself.

I forgot to ask, what weight class will you be fighting in? I'm guessing either FW or LW.

Yeah I was thinking LW but I really dont know. I Really wanted to learn ground techniques, such as submission and takedowns. I am confident in my striking even though I will need more work. I know that I am terrible if I am put on the ground. I appreciate the advice given so far, and the site given I for sure check out!!! thanks for the quick responses.
