That's not wrong necesarily, but the ideal thing to do is get a fast digesting carb directly after your workout, as in within 30 minutes, and then have a full meal with lots of protein, healthy fats, and slow digesting carbs about an hour-hour 1/2 after your workout.

Well pre-workout nutrition is not as important IMO, but I would suggest having a small meal or a shake about 30-45min. before lifting. If you don't want to drink that many shakes though, definitely make sure to drink your shake post-WO with some sort of fast-digsesting carb, such as gatorade, white bread, waxy maize, etc.
Something like a peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread with a piece of fruit or veggies would be a good pre-workout meal.

Gummy bears, Sorbet, or any other type of dextrose. Aim for about 50-60/g of dextrose/fast digesting carbs assuming you are a 180 pound guy.

waxy maize FTW, waxy maize is a more complex carb, taking it intraworkout will lead to more fuller muscles as well. the main job of it is its a delivery vehicle to your muscles, it transports protein, and other nutrients rather quickly to your muscles when compared to taking protein by itself. as for other carbs, if your low on cash, haribo gummy bears are great post workout, its dextrose so it will digest quickly.
