Fast Cardio
Hello, I was wondering if anybody out there knew any cardio routines to get in shape really fast. I'm wierd cuz I can not work out for about a month and still run a 12 min mile, but I still want more cardio. I'd like to be in top physical form or close to it for when school starts back, so no matter how agonizing or horrible it is, bring it on lol. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but were you joking about the 12 min mile - just cos most people can walk a 12 minute mile without to much effort
If you serious, then one of the workouts I do takes an hour - 15min rowing - should be approaching 4000m, then 15min bikng, 5-6000m, and then hop on the tread mill start it out nice a gentle about 9 or 10kph and then every 5 mins put the speed up 1kph, and run for 30mins. So for the last 5 mins your doing 15/16kph if you feeling really good, rack the incline up for the last 5mins as well to 10-15 degrees. No resting in between each exercise. Normally gets me pretty knackered, and I try and go further every time I do it to make sure i;m improving.
Give it a try

Thanks . Anymore suggestions? Oh and the 12min mile thing, I ran a 12 min mile with pnuemonia to try to get some of that stuff out of my system. I usually run a mile around 8-9 minutes when i'm on my cardio cycles. Anybody recommend nitric oxide? I've never used it, so does anybody think it will help or hurt me?

Interval Sprinting, start with 30 seconds sprinting/30 seconds walking. Do it for as long as you can. Once your cardio improves, do 1 minute sprint 1 minute walk.
If you have an interval timer, get on a bike and use the Tabata Sequence. 20 seconds as fast as you can / 10 seconds slow peddling. Do this 8 times. 30 seconds x 8 = 4 minutes. 4 minute workout that will have you sweating.
Concept2 rowing, do it if you have access to one.

votek is right - for what I think you are asking for Interval training is the answer.
google it and I'm sure you'll find out more than we can offer. Be warned however that interval training tends to wear out people mentally, training with others counters this or good self-motivation.

Cardio
In the Army we do alot of interval training for cardio days, 3 times a week we do 60 -30's and sometimes we just do windsprints for a half an hour, it helps boost cardio dramatically!! I mean im 6'2" 253 lbs and I run a 13:30 2 mile on the PT test. thats roughly a 6:45 mile not bad, but the sprinting helps!!
