Wasn't it Tanner who trained MMA in his garage with nothing more than tapes he watched?

Start practicing on your own, if you find you are still interested in it after a while and you enjoy the work, I'd look more into joining a serious MMA gym and start training for real. Or, just join a close gym (the closest one), and see how you like it.

Either way, if you do find you like it, you're still young enough to become a pro, if you are good enough and all that junk.

I know that Hazelette trained out of his garage. That's why he is a big inspiration to me.

I thought the same way Intermission. I hated school as well and just wanted to be free or something learn something about myself... without all this regular stuff every day wake up in the same bed with the same ppl around you. I decided then to make a trip around the world for over a year when I was only 19. After that journey I realised how important school really is, thats when I decided to finally get my A level and plan for the future. Now I soon will start to study so it's never to late to realise it, but I would advise you to get youre A level first before dropping out of school because the second course of education is always harder!

if you cant afford a martial arts dojo right now find 2 friends or 3 friends that will help you with wrestling and kickboxing. I have pretty much no money and i train with equipment that i made myself. Just a friend and some youtube videos is getting me started. (granted ive been in street fights and boxing matches) its all a matter of getting your feet wet. just get a few friends together and once its easy submitting them and outboxing them then think about getting a job for a dojo. you dont need a belt or title to be good, im 18, just took a BJJ class not a year ago. only went 3 months and now i wrestle with guys that have a 60+ weight advantage and have only lost twice out of 14 matches. good luck

This is a great post IMO, its been hard in my life right now financially. My family just lost our house to be totally honest and training equipment has been hard to substitute. Mind telling me how you made your own stuff?

I hated school also, with a few exceptions. Fortunately I made more of an effort my last 2 years and got into a Big 10 school, which I think opened the door for slightly better jobs (VERY slightly better, since I'm not great at heavy lifting for 8 hours.....yet).

Please please don't bag on the schoolwork. If you train your ass off and boost your grades, who's to say you couldn't get a scholarship somewhere?
