When trying to gain weight, try working out 3-4 times a week. Make sure you are weightlifting correctly! Lift hard and then recover for the next workout.Increase your protein intake. Your body needs a lot of protein to build new muscle. But since most of the calories for weight gain comes from carbohydrates and fats, do not replace them with protein.

Focus on the big exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bent-over rows, chin-ups, bench press, & military press. These are the exercises that will turn those extra calories into muscle and therefore help you gain weight.Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will gain weight fast.

If you are a very active person, you should learn to relax, which will slow down your metabolic rate.Increasing the number of hours you sleep will also help you in gaining weight.

If you want to gain weight then you need to eat more food. If you are consuming more calories than you are burning you will gain weight.
