Do you burn less calories when a workout gets easier?

Hey guys,

Just a question I've always wondered about.

Here's whats going on.

As a warm up, I usual run up this hill close to my house 6 times.

3-4 months ago, it was really difficult to do. Now, its gotten way easier.

Even though its the same distance, at the same speed and the same incline, I feel like maybe Im burning less calories because its easier?
Does that make sense?

Or am I burning just as many calories as I was 3-4 months ago?

thanks

I don't know... But if its easier now, add more. Go for constant improvement

Good point. I actual do increase the length and difficulty of my workouts.

I was just curious. I dont know why, because I dont count calories, or even know how to. Just wanted to know.

I would say that its the same amount of calories.... if your weight hasnt changed

None of the variables of changed, its still the same distance, same amount of resistance... your muscular strength/endurance has just compensated to equalized the amount of work required... but the caloric burn is the same.

rich78uk has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Your body adapts to training very quickly which is why you need to keep progressing your workouts and challenging yourself. If you body is not being challenged as much as it used to be then you will find your heart rate is not being pushed as high as it once was and your body will not be burning as many calories. So look at increasing how many times you run up the hill, changing the pace, increasing the distance, adding some bodyweight exercises etc anything to keep your body guessing.
