Get in done in the morning

Im a high school wrestler so I am always worrying about my weight. Something I just remembered was that if I went to the gym, or worked out in the morning, that I ate better the rest of the day. It was like, "wow I just worked out, so I better not ruin it by eating crappy for the rest of the day." I have also read articles that you burn off a ton more fat by working out in the morning. If I would plan on going to the gym at night, the food I would consume during that day would not be healthy because I figured Id run it off at the gym. This works for me so I figured I would share it.

I'll add some of my stuff too. The reason that you burn more fat if you work out in the morning is because you are basically running on fat (unless you ate breakfeast), since your last meal was before you went to bed. This allows the body to burn more fat than exercising later (where you'd be burning the calories you had eaten earlier that day).

Also, I've found that if I exercise regularly, it is a lot harder for me to eat a lot of junk food. I can still eat some, but after a certain amount I just feel real sick. I used to be able to eat a ton of candy during the day, but if I work out consistently I feel sick after eating just 1 candy bar all day, which is quite nice.

I try to think of food as not what your burning off... but what you need to feed your muscles DAILY. If your not eating at least 1g per pound of body weight for protien(and 3-1 or 2-1 if your bulking for crabs) then you are simply letting your body burn as much muscle as fat. I really started improving in all areas of my mma when I TRULY changed my thinking from what "Bad calories I eat and need to burn off" to what I NEED to eat to keep improving.

That is smart thinking. I guess since Im a wrestler, Im constantly trying to lose wright. Ill begin thinking like this in around 7 weeks, when wrestling is over.

Lucky for me I don't have that problem because of medication. It's a long story, but I need to take a medicine in the morning (about 2 hours before I want to wake up) and then I get up and I'm not tired at all. I do crash at night (sometimes) when the medication wares off.

The idea of working out in the morning as being the ideal time is based on the fact that if you work out on an empty stomach in the morning it will stimulate Growth Hormone to a higher level. Growth Hormone (GH) is one of the main hormones that stimulates lipolysis (fat burning). Also working out in the morning is thought to be ideal particularly for men because levels of testosterone tend to be higher in the morning. All these factors put together make working out in the morning optimal. However, the problem with working out in the morning is that it is quite difficult to do because it doesn't tend to feel really good when you work out on an empty stomach--at first anyways. I do think you can get used to it, but it will take some time.
