Is it impossible?

I was told that it was impossible to lose fat and build muscle at the same time, that they have to be worked on seperately. Is this true?

No its not true.

While it is not impossible it is hard to do. It takes the right mixture of resistance/cardio training alongside a very strict diet that includes plenty of quality protein.
