Torn tendon

About a month ago i was hitting the bag a home and tore a tendon in my wrist. The doc gave me a splint type thing and some anti-inflamatory pills. It has gotten alot better and i have full movement of my wrist again, which says alot because befor it was extremely painful to move any part of my arm at all. I can now lift light weights if im careful, but if i make a wrong move there is extreme pain. Same thing happens when i lean on my palm. Im sure i just need some more time to heal. Any hints on how to help it heal and make the pain go away as far as heating and icing and that sort of stuff?
