So I ended up pulling Keyrstin from the dogpound here in missoula, the place is great for adults but not safety conscious enough with kids for me.
I dont know exactly what went down but another student got her in a RNC and when she tapped she said she couldn't feel it and Im about 90% sure she was just excited she got the choke and cranked it. My issue is the teacher was not on the ball and the choke got held way too long so we pulled her.
IDK if I was being overprotective but if you fracture a growth plate then you have some serious issues and they go way to hard on the ground for someone not to respond to a tap.
So yesterday we went to see Jim Harrison and Im extremely impressed with his school, I know some of you will know the name but for thoughs that dont he trained Josh Barnett.
We talked for about a hour and the best part of it is he has grandkids and they are all girls the same age as my kids, there are at least 6 girls in his kids classes.
They have and use kids safty gear and seem to do a perfect job of balancing sparring with safety.
It made me want to get back into training real real bad but I just dont have the cash to put all three of us in so for now its more important to me the girls learn.
Anyway I just felt like sharing because Im excited for them and I know some peeps here have kids in training.
If anyone lives in Missoula MT and is on the fence about taking a child to classes or just needs a place to start for themselves Jim's school is one of the best Ive seen and they teach all aspects of MMA.
