Nutrition for training

Hi there!

I've been doing MMA for about 8/9 months, I do three classes per week, one session is for two hours the other day is for one. I also do circuit training and weight lifting.

Does anyone have any suggestions for nutrition before my classes and after to aid in quick recovery?

I usually have a protein shake after MMA but now I am looking to cut back on those. Is there a natural alternative without eating meat?

They have tons of pre/post work out shakes, bars, pills on the market.

Loads of different sites with reviews are out there here is one.

But to your question.. Are you wanting to slim down? Gain ? Bulk? To give ya a good idea you need to know what you want out of said idea.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

Hi, thanks for the quick reply

well, I'm 14 stone / 90KG but don't seem to look it! Most guys who are 14 stone are fat, but I'm 6 ft 2 which 34 inch waist.Think all the weight is in my legs!
I don't want to get slimmer, but would like more muscle and definition. About the shakes etc, I have had shakes for years but want to cut back and go natural without eating loads of meat. I've kind of got sick of that chocolate taste from the shakes! hehe Is choc milk any good? Michael Phelps has it, but mind you he has pizza too!

Protein man. Lean protein. Animal stacks are great too. You are what 196 lbs? I not too savvy with the whole stone conversion thing. And at 6'2" you're pretty solid. I have a smaller waist 32" but walk around at the same weight but I'm 5'11". With your height it would'nt hurt to bulk up or stay where you are and cut down. Try browsing through that site and read some of the reviews. Or go to your local GNC and shoot the shit with the workers in there they usually know their stuff. I dont know if you have any GNC's or their equal but it's an idea.

Hi, I went to the supplement store and they advised me on some protein in the morning and straight after my workout with a banana. So see how it goes :)

I like NO Xplode before training then some MuscleTech NItrotech with a scoop of Power Butter right after my training session.

www.fitbodylife.com has some great prices.

Carbohydrates are the predominant source of energy during a workout gym. Stored as glycogen in muscle, it is the fuel used for energy supply in the short, intense bursts of power. All athletes need protein after vigorous exercise.Protein helps repair and rebuild muscle tissue that fell down during the exercise difficult.

Just eat right, the showing of the muscles comes with hard work more then protein. Protein just recovers the muscles to rebuild themselves. Diet is #1 but in a very very close second is a good workout plan. Hit the weights and hit them hard.

There's really no apparent substitute for meat. Veggies will help you on your nutritional needs but might not give you the power that only meat can provide.
