Cauliflower ear

Quick question for you guys

I'm into the UFC and sure some or most of you guys do some sort of mixed martial arts training in your spare time. Ive been training jiu jitsu since February, I train usually 3-4 times a week and have had one competition in my first 6 weeks of training.

My ears have started to swell abit and feel a bit sore. Was wondering what you guys do to treat it as im sure some of you have encountered it. Do you ice it? Some people drain them?

Any suggestions would be great or advice

ice it and wear a ear guard everytime you practice until the tenderness goes away.

This.

Never try to drain it yourself. One of my high school wrestling buddies tried to, and it got much much worse.

Also, wrong place to post this thread.

Ice them and try wrapping a bandage around your head at night and wear a skull cap.......So you're in the UFC huh?

Honestly, I'm not doubting your in the UFC. But if you are, surely there are alot more qualfifed people you can talk to. Are you with a training camp? What about other fighters? Did none of them train wrestling at school and college? If so how did they deal with it? Coaches? Trainers? Medics? Other fighters? Cut guys?

Sorry, no offence, I'm a peaceful person.

Is it possible he meant "into" as in liked it? I just don't think someone training BJJ for this short amount of time hasn't experienced coliflower could be in the UFC. Just sayin.

Anyhow. Don't drain it. It's the mark of a fighter.

If you do drain it go to a Dr. They put a needle in your ear and suck the fluid out. Takes about 30 seconds if they know what their doing.

If you have someone who knows what they're doing absolutely get it drained. Most decent gyms have an athletic trainer on staff that should be able to take care of it.

My friend who's been doing Judo for the last 10 years' ears are Cauliflowered to the point that he was referred to a specialist to be drained. If your ears are quite bad, its just best to see your doctor.
