Good snacks are nuts, especially almonds. Very calorie dense, but very healthy with lots of good fats and protein. And you can drink protein shakes whenever you want... but you should be aiming at 4-6 small "meals" a day, so use those protein shakes as one of those "small meals." Protein shakes are good, but they shouldn't be taking up more of your diet than real food.
