Eating better

so im trying to get into better shape by working out and eating better. im going on a regimen of eating grilled chicken with green veggies and fruits. no soda or sweet tea. sticking to the basics. my question is can i drink protein shakes whenever i want when im hungry or will that just keep the weight on? whats a good snacking food for when im hungry during day?

Carrots are awesome. Very low calorie, lots of nutrients, and a lot of fiber to keep your digestive system working well. Apples fall into the same category. And I can really get into a bowl of spinach with a little bit of Caesar dressing.

Will protein shakes keep the weight on? It doesn't matter if it's protein shakes or cheeseburgers, calories in vs. calories out.

Defecato, ergo sum.

Good snacks are nuts, especially almonds. Very calorie dense, but very healthy with lots of good fats and protein. And you can drink protein shakes whenever you want... but you should be aiming at 4-6 small "meals" a day, so use those protein shakes as one of those "small meals." Protein shakes are good, but they shouldn't be taking up more of your diet than real food.

Diet sounds fairly decent enough. Listen to what wukkadb said except be VERY careful on what type of protein shake you get.

I'm a BIG believer in plant based proteins when it comes to supplements. They are MUCH kinder on the digestive system and heart than stuff like whey and other dairy like protein shakes.

Stick to Barley grass and hemp protein. Spirulina is pretty good too. Avoid dairy supplements at all costs. Hell avoid dairy as much as you can, I say. Even if you aren't allergic, it WILL benefit you greatly.
