” … I got sloppy off of that clinch … I threw a knee with my eyes down and he caught me right behind the ear…. I would have changed nothing; I got caught off the clinch. Like I said, it’s a fight and anything can happen.”
– Kendall Grove offers no excuses for his upset first round technical knockout loss to Patrick Cote at UFC 74: “Respect” last month in his first post-fight interview with MMAMadness.com. And he still wants to fight Jason MacDonald.

I think Grove would have a lot of trouble against Macdonald if they hit the ground Grove has ver long limbs which make it much easier to put someone in an armbar.

I give credit to Grove for taking his loss like a man and not making excuses.

You'd think so, but Grove is no Semmy Schilt. His BJJ is excellent and historically he has had excellent defense. His only submission loss is from a choke.

I have to say, I think he is still making a slight excuse. Saying "I got sloppy" is saying that the result is something that normally wouldn't happen, or shouldn't happen. If you don't want to make an excuse, all you can say is "He beat me" or "He was the better man on the day".

Isn;t saying "i got sloppy" pretty much the same as "He was the better man that day"? I mean, assuming cote fought his best, and cote was sloppy, wouldn't that make cote the "better man that day"?

I was disappointed in Groves interviews before the Cote fight, he acted like a thug, I am glad he got his ass knocked out, maybe he will now grow up, he certainly sounds humbled, GOOD!
Maybe his next fight he workout his body instead of his mouth.

I have more of a problem with the "it's a fight anythimg can happen" line, that's not acknowledging the fact that you got KO'd and I'm sure you'll never hear the winning fighter say that.

Patrick was very good that night. And Kendall would get TOOLED by Jason Macdonald on the ground. Whoever thinks otherwise, is DRUNK. Kendall has good Sub defence? Why? Because his record says so? According to Sherdog, He's 8 and 4. That's not good at all. And his quality of opponents is LESS then Cote's, AND J-Macs. Come on folks.. Cote exposed Grove. Jason would do the same.
