Low kick for Martinez, and Magalhaes wants guard position again. No way, says Martinez and they're back on their feet. Martinez finding his range with punches. His nose is bleeding. Magalhaes circles out, and Martinez misses. He's chasing Magalhaes, looking for that big shot. Round ends with Martinez in pursuit. MMAjunkie.com gives him the frame 10-9.
Round 2 - Martinez back in slow pursuit, low stance. Magalhaes tries two straight rights. Martinez returns fire. He's pawing the jab. Magalhaes with body kick. Magalhaes lands a right hand as Martinez resets. Then a front kick. Martinez with a left hand. Magalhaes shoots and Martinez makes him reconsider with punches. Nice straight rights for Magalhaes. Straight left for Martinez. Martinez slips the right and fires back with left. Magalhaes with leg kick, and Martinez answers. Lunging punch misses. The two clash heads but land nothing. Body kick from Magalhaes. He's pressing in now. Looking for a straight right. Martinez slipping nicely. Magalhaes breaks it up with a front kick. Martinez pumping the jab. Big body kick from Magalhaes. Mostly a sparring match here. Neither man landing big. Martinez stopped with a punch combo. Right hand stops follow up combo from Martinez. Both men miss on next exchange. Lot of playing hands here. Martinez is closing, but he's not in range. Round ends with an exchange that yields nothing for either. Round 3 - Not much of a fight here so far. Touch of gloves starts the third. Magalhaes with a leg kick. Martinez tries to fake his way into a right. Lots of feints by both. Magalhaes catches a punch as he tries a flying knee. He fires off a front kick. Martinez on the pursuit again, feinting. Magalhaes catches a few punches. Martinez countering better this round. Magalhaes fires off a kick to take steam off Martinez's punches. Right hand for Magalhaes in exchange. He's using the kicks to keep Martinez at distance. Martinez is undeterred and keeps advancing. Martinez feints and Magalhaes misses him with a punch. Martinez combo lands when Magalhaes pursues. Magalhaes lands a punch as he charges. Follow up by Martinez is blocked. More playing hands. Magalhaes ducks under punches and briefly gets Martinez down, but he can't keep fight on the mat. Flurry from Martinez is mostly blocked. Right hand for Magalhaes, then a spinning back kick that misses. Magalhaes with another flying knee. Right hand for Magalhaes. He leads with a hook, breaking up his usual attack. Another shot from Magalhaes and Martinez fires off short rights as Magalhaes attempts to slide into guard. Martinez fights him off, and they're back on their feet. Magalhaes finds his aggression in the final seconds of the fight, pursuing with punches. MMAjunkie.com scores the final frame 10-9 for Magalhaes, but it should be Martinez's fight, 29-28.
