Round 1 - Referee Marc Goddard oversees this lightweight prelim. Touch of gloves from the southpaws. Tibau in center as Trinaldo circles left and open with a shot to the body. Trinaldo measuring distance with his right hand and looks like he wants to uncork with his left. Both just miss on traded punches. Round 2 - Trinaldo opens with a jab. Tibau on the outside. Big punches just miss for both. Into the clinch, and Tibau pushes Trinaldo agains the fence. They break and rest. Trinaldo staggers Tibau with a wild left behind the ear and immediately jumps on the back. The left arm is under the chin, and Tibau is trying desperately to turn in. He does survive the choke, but Trinaldo is still firm on his back. He switches over to the top and sets up an arm-triangle choke, but Tibau survives that, too. Good stuff from both fighters. Trinaldo in top position and dropping big punches. Massive left hands coming in. Tibau surviving and looks to turn his hips. Trinaldo snuffs it out and stays on top, where he finishes the round. Round 3 - Toe-to-toe to open the third in an exciting firefight. Crowd is fired up, and Tibau takes the fight to the floor. Top position for Tibau, and Goddard calls for him to work. Tibau does just enough with short punches. He tries to elevate and pass on one side and does get to half-gaurd. Goddard calls for the two to stand, and both are a little slow to rise. Trinaldo tries for a few wild punches, but he's visibly tired. Tibau slips a punch and scores another takedown. Trinaldo does seems to be considering options underneath, but Tibau is solid in top control and hits a smooth transition to mount. Tibau sets up an arm-triangle choke and looks to dismount. Trinaldo gives a thumbs-up, but Tibau stays on the choke. Goddard checks the arm when it falls limp, but Trinaldo signals he's still fine.
