Round 1 - Referee Steve Perceval in charge as the main card gets underway. Both fighters go straight to work and engage in the center. They settle in shortly after and Mizugaki lands a nice left to the chin. Hougland looks frustrated, and Mizugaki lands a slapping low kick. More punches form Mizugaki, and Hougland dives for the legs. He wraps the body as Mizugaki scores with a few hammerfists, and Hougland settles into guard. He turns for an armbar that looks threatening, but Mizugaki pulls his limb free and resets on top. Hougland turns again for a submission, but Mizugaki keeps his arms free and pummels from the top. Hougland eats several powerful punches, but he stays on his back and continues to work for options from guard. He gets his legs on the shoulder, but Mizugaki postures up and pounds away. Hougland briefly transitions to his knees before settling again on his back. Hougland is active underneath, but he's taking a lot of damage, as well. Final minute of the first. Hougland continues to bring his legs high for the submission, but Mizugaki feels them all and stays safe while attacking with punches. Round ends, and Mizugaki takes it on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 2 - Hougland tries to attack from distance, and he looks pained when Mizugaki punches to the body. Hougland in desperation mode as he shoots in on a takedown that is nowhere close. Clinch from Mizugaki and knees to the body inside. Hougland wraps the body and tries desperately to score a takedown. He settles for pulling guard, where he showed promise in the first but was ultimately grinded away. Hougland turns for an armbar, but Mizugaki again defends the submission and lands more shots from the top. Perceval calls for action two minutes into the round. Mizugaki scrambles on a transition and briefly takes his opponent's back. Hougland turns and settle into guard, but he's not much safer there. Mizugaki is just in complete control. Perceval calls for a stand-up with a little more than a minute. Mizugaki lands a crisp hook and avoids Hougland's leaping takedown attempt to settle back into top position. This bout is all Mizugaki as the second ends, and MMAjunkie.com awards him the frame, 10-9.

Round 3 - Hougland yells before the start of the third on obvious recognition of what he faces. He misses a high kick from range, and Mizugaki comes back with a low kick and a punch that drops an off-balance foe. Fun scramble after that ultimately sees Hougland pull guard yet again. Mizugaki eventually stands and allows Hougland to do the same. With two rounds in the bank, it seems Mizugaki wants to put on a show. Hougland isn't quite so interested in such a plan and elects to pull guard again two minutes into the frame. Mizugaki happy to land short punches from the top and occasional elbows. Perceval gives him a little time to work but calls for the stand-up after the pace slows. Hougland shoots quickly in and decides to fall to his back. Crowd not happy with it, but Hougland has struggled to find success anywhere in the cage. Mizugaki in complete control as we enter the final minute. Mizugaki lands several powerful smashed from the top, and the long night for Hougland finally comes to an end. MMAjunkie.com sees the final round for Mizugaki, 10-9, and awards him the fight with a 30-27 score that might not be quite enough to explain the one-sided nature of the fight. Takeya Mizugaki def. Jeff Hougland via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-27, 30-27).
