Round 1 - Referee Herb Dean in the cage with these massive heavyweights. Overeem fake a few right hand as he grins and stalks in the center. They move into the clinch and Overeem lands one knee before they break. Overeem again smiling. He moves inside, and Silva defends against the cage. Overeem misses a right hand on the break, ad they move together again. They break and reset in the center. Overeem is faking punches, looking to see how Silva moves. Overeem easily avoids a punch and kick from his opponent. Clinch again and knee inside for Overeem. They break, and Overeem looks completely relaxed. His hands are down, and he lands a right hand. Overeem kicks the thig. Overeem's hands at his side. They clinch again, and Overeem pushes in from the outside. Final minute. Both fighters really pacing themselves, but Overeem is the one in control. Overeem spins but doesn't throw a strike. Silva moves in, but Overeem lands a counter uppercut. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com gives it to Overeem, 10-9.
Round 2 - Overeem looks a little more aggressive now. He's still smiling. Clinch again, and this time Overeem scores with a toss and falls immediately into side control. Silva lands an elbow underneath. Overeem postures up and punches the body. Silva gets full guard. Overeem opening up a bit and peppers the body. Silva trying to get space and kicks Overeem away. Overeem avoids a few kicks to the knee and moves back into his opponent's guard. Big hammerfist to the body. Silva not taking a ton of damage underneath, but he also doesn't have many options right now. Dean wants the fighter to work, and Overeem does come alive with a few punches. Overeem in complete control of this fight, but he has yet to wow this audience. Overeem stands, and Dean calls for Silva todo the same. Overeem slipping punches, but Silva does land a few knees in the closing seconds. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com sees it for Overeem again, 10-9.
Round 3 - Overeem walks quickly forward and immediately into the clinch. Silva pushes him off ad starts winging punches. He's landing flush. Head kick comes in. Right hand scores, and Overeem is in trouble. Silva sees it and tees off. Unrelenting damage, and Overeem is out on his feet. Dean giving him all the time in the world, but it doesn't matter. Silva rifling punches, and Overeem is done. Silva backs away to celebrate before moving back in to stand over his opponent and taunt the man who would not respect him.
