Round 1 - Referee Herb Dean oversees the evening's main event, a middleweight title fight. Silva bows, but he doesn't touch the outstretched Weidman glove before the bell. Weidman looks big in the cage and takes the center. He shoots on a takedown. Silva sprawl, but the second effort pushes him down. Tense moments early. Half-guard underneath. Weidman looking to posture and punch. Silva tying things up well underneath. Weidman stands and looks to advance. He lands a few right hands. Weidman spins for a leg. It briefly look like he has the knee, but Silva survives and returns to the feet. Silva walks around with his hands down. Weidman pushes in, and Silva just laughs as he lets himself ne punched. Silva's hands on the waist. Silva waves a finger and starts to attack. Weidman jabs, and Silva asks for more. Silva chops the legs.He asks for Weidman to do the same. Silva gesturing as uch as he ever has, and the crowd loves it. Bell sounds, and the two smile. MMAjunkie.com sees the first for Weidman, 10-9.
Round 2 - Silva talking as they open the second. He's shuffling the feet and begging Weidman to push forward. Weidman shoots, but Silva pushes him off. Silva kicks the leg. Weidman misses a high kick. Silva eats a jab, but he shows it's no use. Then another one comes, and a third, and Silva drops. The taunting finally caught up with him. Weidman pounces to finish, and Dean steps in. Amazing. Chris Weidman def. Anderson Silva via knockout (punches) - Round 2, 1:18 to become new UFC middleweight champion.
