Round 1 - Yves Lavigne is the ref. A couple of Strikeforce vets. Shields kicks early. But Woodley fires back with some of his own. He kicks Shields right off his feet with a low one to Shields' lead leg. Shields lands inside, then catches a kick and they tie up. Shields clinches him up and looks to land a few knees. Woodley lands a few body shots. Shields trying to drag things down, but it's not there yet, and at about the midway point Lavigne separates them. Shields trying to pepper in jabs and kicks. Power punch from WOodley isn't there, but a follow-up makes some noise. They trade kicks, and Shields goes low to shoot for a single. Shields staying on him and gives knees to Woodley while Woodley gives body punches in return. Pretty close round, but MMAjunkie.com will give it to Shields 10-9.

Round 2 - Kicks from Shields early, then Shields wants to go to the floor, but it's not there. Another leg kick from Woodley again takes Shields off his feet. But obviously Woodley won't go to the ground with him. Instead, on the feet, he lands a good right hand and then a kick that Shields tries to use for a takedown. They tie up on the fence, but Shields spins him around. Shields tries for the trip takedown, and Woodley holds his shorts and gets a warning. The crowd isn't in favor of the stalemate here in the clinch, and Lavigne wants them to work. Woodley reverses, though, and Shields looks for a front choke. Woodley goes to a knee to keep Shields from kneeing him in the head. Finally with 90 seconds left, Woodley is able to break away. He wants a big right hand, and it misses. Then a Superman punch is off the mark. Body kick from Shields is good, and he goes for his 11th takedown attempt and again can't get Woodley to the canvas. The crowd is booing big time as they clinch again. Woodley lands a good knee. But with 15 seconds left, they are broken up. It's a 10-9 round for Shields on the MMAjunkie.com card once again.

Round 3 - Woodley might need a finish here. They trade kicks and a couple short punches, and Woodley's body kick is caught by Shields. Shields pushes him to the cage, and he'll land more knees. They're not big, but they're there. Lavigne splits them much faster this time, though. A pair of kicks from Shields land. Another body kick comes after that. Right hand from Woodley is off the mark, and again Shields ties him up. But Woodley puts his back to the cage. Shields wants a trip takedown, but so far, still not there as has been the case all fight. More punches and knees in tight. And midway through, Lavigne pulls them apart. Woodley will go bombs away now. He misses his first three. But a spinning back fist is right on the button. Shields wobbles for a second, but comes forward and again ties Woodley up. With a minute left, here we go again with a separation. Woodley lands a body kick. Shields lands a kick, but Woodley counters with a right. A shot is stuffed by Woodley, and he lands a right hand after that. But Shields ties him up to finish the round. The round is 10-9 for Woodley, but MMAjunkie.com has it 29-28 for Shields. Jake Shields def. Tyron Woodley via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)
