Looks like most are on the younger, powerful striker. I still like the grizzled vet. He's been alternating wins and losses for awhile and it doesn't stop here.
Round 1 - Edwards takes the center, and Cruickshank moves left, away from the southpaw's power. Cruickshank kicks the body and then punches there as well. Edwards just misses over the top with a high kick. Edwards stalking. Cruickshank looking to counter. He's just short on a big right hand. Cruickshank still moving left. Edwards continues to keep the center. Neither fighter able to really pick the other apart in the early going. Edwards kicks low and defends a counter. Kicks traded against the cage. Even trading thus far. Cruickshank comes alive in the final seconds of the frame, but it remains largely even. MMAjunkie.com leans toward Edwards in a close one, 10-9.
Round 2 - Familiar feel to open the second. Cruickshank answering everything Edwards throws, but he's letting his opponent control the center and throw first. Cruickshank comes off the cage, but Edwards slips well and avoids catching anything flush. Cruickshank has one high kick blocked but lands another. Cruickshank continues to circle left. He's getting a little busier, too. Cruickshank with a solid kick to the body. Both fighters trading shots. Edwards lands his best kick to the body. Punches traded. Cruickshank offering up more first-strike chances rather than waiting. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com likes Cruickshank in the second in another close round, 10-9.
Round 3 - Both fighters settle back in to their respective roles. Edwards is in the center stalking, and Cruickshank circles on the outside. Cruickshank just misses on high kick over the shoulder. Edwards moving well and avoiding most of Cruickshank's strikes. He kicks the leg. Cruickshank just misses an axe kick. Halfwayk mar of the final frame. Cruickshank short on a spinning kick. Edwards chopping the legs. Cruickshank back into a countering rhythm, and he's struggling to land flush. Cruickshank looks for a later takedown. Doesn't come. Edwards walking forward. Crowd wants more action to close. Cruickshank has to pull back a spinning kick. Round ends, and there's not a ton between them, but MMAjunkie.com leans toward Edwards, 10-9, giving him the fight 29-28. Daron Cruickshank def. Yves Edwards via split decision (30-27, 27-30, 30-27).
