UFC 165: Constantinos Philippou vs Francis Carmont

Round 1 - Carmont with an early front kick. Philippou looking to throw hands. Carmont kicks the legs and shoots in. He gets Philippou down, but he can't keep him there. Philippou turns to a knee. Carmont grabs the legs and pulls him away. Philippou gets again to his knees. Carmont on the back, and he sneaks in a few punches. He looks for the choke, but Philippou feels it and turns in. It's good defense, but Carmont is now in control on top. Philippou works from guard. He wants an arm, but Carmont pulls free and into side control. Philippou scrambles underneath, and he again attacks the arm, but Carmont is too much on top. Carmont misses a big right, and Philippou secures the, but he runs out of time before he can capitalize. MMAjunkie.com gives it to Carmont, 10-9.

Round 2 - Philippou will want to stay upright this round. He doesn't. Carmont immediately slips underneath and takes the action to the floor. Carmont just dominating on top. Philippou holding tight for a standup as the crowd boos. Carmont staying busy enough for McCarthy, thought that quickly changes. Philippou looks frustrated as they're brought to the feet. Carmont quickly back inside and brings the action again to the ground. Crowd still unhappy. Carmont stands and looks to strike but pushes back down when Philippou looks to attack a leg. Round ends there, and it's all Carmont, 10-9 on the MMAjunkie.com card.

Round 3 - Philippou misses on a big punch to open. Carmont misses on a spinning kick. He fires a few high kicks, as well. Philippou seems to complain he's been poked, but McCarthy tells him to carry on. Carmon moves inside and gets another takedown with ease. Carmont is just in total control. Carmont looking to punch away, and he punctuates every blow verbally. Philippou looking for options underneath. There aren't many. Carmont isn't turning in a "Fight of the Night" performance, but is absolutely dominating every moment of the bout. Philippou turns to his knees, and Carmont all over him. He turns again, and Carmont blasting away. He backs away to end the fight and cruises to the win. MMAjunkie.com gives Carmont the round, 10-9, awarding him the fight 30-27.

Result: Francis Carmont def. Constantinos Philippou via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
