UFC Fight Night 29: Thiago Silva vs Matt Hamill

Round 1 - Hamill opens with a left and a low kick. He repeats the combo as the early aggressor. He pushes Silva down, but the Brazilian gets back to his feet. Silva walking forward no, firing straight punches. Hamill kicks the thigh. Silva throwing with power, and he wobbles Hamill with a right hand. Hamill recovers, but Silva walking forward and throwing big punches. He kicks the leg, as well. Hamill retreating and looking to answer in the pocket. Silva scores with another right hand. Hamill drops for a takedown, but he doesn't drive through. Hamill doesn't have the zip he started with, as Silva is slowly picking him apart. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com sees it for Silva, 10-9.

Round 2 - Faster pace to open by both fighters, but Silva gets the best of the striking. Hamill gets inside on a takedown, but Silva gets right back to his feet. Silva continues to chop the leg. Hamill grabs a leg and spins Silva to the floor, but he can't keep the Brazilian there. Punches traded, and a big right hand wobbles Hamill. Silva continues to attack, and he hits the floor. Hamill turtles ad gets back to his feet, but there's 90 seconds left for Silva to finish. He misses a big lead left but keeps chopping the leg. Right hand lands again for Silva. Hamill is holding on, but he's been battered. Another right hand over the top. Hamill pushes in on a takedown. He gets it ad moves to the back, but the round ends. MMAjunkie.com sees it for Silva, 10-9.

Round 3 - Hamill working for a takedown early on, but he can't bring Silva to the floor. Instead, he's forced to endure more leg kicks. Both fighters breathing hard, and the pace is less than admirable. Silva kicks the body, and Hamill accidentally reaches out and pokes the eye. the commission comes in to take a quick look, but the bout carries on. Hamill again with the left to start, but Silva chops his thigh. Hamill struggling to stay upright on the damaged left leg. Silva in complete control, but a finish would go a long way toward making a positive statement. Hamill looking again to take the fight to the floor. Silva defends and looks up at the clock before pulling away. Silva scores with a knee, and Hamill is ready to go. Crowd wants it, but Silva just can't quite seem to get it done. Silva chops the legs. Hamill bent over at the waist, but he survives. MMAjunkie.com gives the final round to Silva, 10-8, awarding him the fight 30-26.

Result: Thiago Silva def. Matt Hamill via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-27)
