750k on Herman, He is a gritty guy, good BJJ and much better cardio and striking

Round 1 – Herman with an early low kick. Leites answers with a flurry of punches, and an off-balance Herman hits the floor. Leites passes the legs and sets up on top, but he doesn’t stay there. Instead, he stands and tries to land big punches from the top. With Herman rifling off upkicks, Leites does press down and settle on top. He slips out to side control and stays heavy on top. Herman rolls and scrambles well to the feet, but Leites stays tight to the body and pushes him to the cage. Controlling the body, he scores another trip and settles into a dominant spot. Herman rolls, and Leites takes the back. Leites working hard for the choke, but Herman defends the hands. Leites turns to punches to create an opening, but Herman relents and even crawls up at the bell. Still, it’s a Leites round, 10-9.

Round 2 – Leites walks forward, and Herman there, wanting to throw. They trade punches in the pocket before Leites slips under a strike and gets inside on the body. Herman defends well against the fence, staying upright, but Leites is keeping the action close. Herman eventually spins off the cage, but Leites has the bodylock and does bring the fight to the floor. Half-guard underneath for Herman. As Leites works his trapped leg free, Herman rolls, but he gives up his back again. He spins in yet again, and he lands an illegal upkick on a kneeling Leites. Referee Kim Winslow does move inside but doesn’t stop the action. We carry on, and Leites moves around to the back. Herman doesn’t let him stay there, but he’s had nothing in terms of counters. Leites just grinding away on top and controlling the positioning. Crowd boos in the final seconds, and MMAjunkie gives it to Leites, 10-9.

Round 3 – Herman misses with an early lead left. He has the needed sense of urgency, but Leites is the one who lands better in an early exchange. He pushes inside, and Herman happy to make it a dirty fight in the clinch. Leites eventually pulls away. Pace has definitely slowed. Both guys grinding, but it’s not a crowd-pleaser. Leites gets inside, and he looks for the takedown. Herman grabs hold of the fence for dear life. Winslow eventually pulls his hand off the cage, and Leites goes for another takedown. That gets the fight to the floor. He’s again in dominant position, and he transitions yet again to the back. Herman again tries to pull the arms away, staying safe from the choke. But Leites is in complete control. He’ll finish the round there. Not making many fans, but MMAjunkie gives Leites the round, 10-9, and gives him the fight 30-27.

Result: Thales Leites def. Ed Herman via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
