Gian Villante took the fight on 2-3 weeks notice.

Hopefully won't affect his performance.

Nice right hand from Donovan. Villante body kick leaves a nasty mark on Donovan’s left rib cage. Villante catches a kick and pushes his opponent to the floor. Donovan works his legs inside and kicks away, climbing to his feet before Villante can use the position. Sneaky left from Donovan, and he avoids the counter. Stiff shots traded in the final seconds. Donovan blinking as he backs away. Round ends there, and MMAjunkie likes Donovan, 10-9.

Round 2 – Villante quick with the jab to open. He’s pushing the pace. Donovan quickly answers with a big right hand. Jabs starting to bust up Donovan’s face. He pushes in for a takedown, but Villante defends, and they reset. Donovan gets busy with his hands. Good back and forth, but Villante catches him coming in with a kick and counters with a stiff right hand over the top. Donovan is hurt, and he falls to his back. Villante seizes the opportunity and rushes forward with punches until referee Kim Winslow waves off the fight.

Result: Gian Villante def. Cody Donovan via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 1:22
