Round 1 – Blake Grice works his second straight fight as the third man in the cage. Vallie-Flagg tries to chase Silverio down early. The Brazilian throws up a couple high kicks that aren’t there, and Vallie-Flagg counters with a kick to the lead leg. Vallie-Flagg lands a punch that has Silverio countering with a takedown attempt, and he puts the fight on the canvas next to Vallie-Flagg’s corner. The Strikeforce vet works back to his feet. Vallie-Flagg finally breaks off, but Silverio lands a big punch and Vallie-Flagg is right back on the canvas. Silverio lands a few punches there, but Vallie-Flagg recovers and starts to work back to his feet. But Silverio does a good job of blocking his left leg to keep him down, and he peppers in some left hands. He’s going to try to take Vallie-Flagg’s back, but against the fence it’s a little tougher. Vallie-Flagg finally gets back to standing, but he eats a knee and a punch before breaking away with 35 seconds left. It’s a 10-9 first round for Silverio on the Junkie card.

Round 2 – A few feet scrambles early eventually lead to Silverio getting back in control on the ground. He works out of half-guard and tries to pass to side control. They scramble around a bit more, and Vallie-Flagg gets near his feet. But then Silverio throws a knee while Vallie-Flagg still has a knee down. It looks like he was hoping to go to the body, but Grice says it was to the head. He stops the action and takes a point away from Silverio – and that could prove to be huge in this one. On the restart, Vallie-Flagg looks to have a little more urgency, knowing a round win for him in the second would mean a 10-8. But with two minutes left, Silverio plants him on the canvas again. Vallie-Flagg will stay stuck on his back most of the rest of the round. It should be a 10-9 round win for Silverio, but with the point deduction for the illegal knee, it’s a 9-9 frame.

Round 3 – It’s more of the same in the third. The two dirty box a little before Silverio takes Vallie-Flagg down. He takes his back and looks for a choke. Vallie-Flagg is in a bad spot with four minutes left. Silverio drops down some punches and elbows, and Vallie-Flagg rolls over. Midway through, he’s still in trouble and can’t scramble out. Silverio keeps threatening, and with 30 seconds left he gets a rear-naked choke on. But Vallie-Flagg survives it. Silverio gets a 10-9 third round, and he should have the fight 29-27.

Result: Elias Silverio def. Isaac Vallie-Flagg via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27)
