TUF Nations Finale: Mitch Gagnon vs Tim Gorman

Round 1 - The battle of southpaws is underway. Gorman swings first, but Gagnon works low kicks. Gorman looks comfortable, but Gagnon’s body shots find their mark. Gorman tries to close distance, but Gagnon works a guillotine and continues jockeying for position. Gagnon secures an arm with his legs and continues working the choke. Gorman appears safe, but midway through the round, he’s still stuck in the headlock position while both fighters are kneeling on the mat. Gorman breaks free, and the fighters return to their feet. Gagnon unloads a nice combo and searches for a head kick. Gorman is checking them, but they still hit with a thud. Gorman shoots for a single leg and drags Gagnon to the mat, but he’s quickly back up. Gorman presses him against the cage and works knees to the legs. The ref calls for a restart after a lull in action, and Gagnon lands a nice combo before the rounds ends. MMAjunkie scores it 10-9 for Gagnon.

Round 2 – Gagnon connects early and is shoved him into the fence, but he maintains his balance and unloads a few short punches as Gorman continues clinging to the single leg. Gagnon looks for the guillotine, but Gorman easily escapes and continues working for a takedown. Gagnon delivers elbows to the ribs, and the ref warns to keep them away from the spine. Gagnon looks for another guillotine and instead ends up on top in full guard. Gagnon drops some hammerfists, postures up, and then works for a guillotine when Gorman escapes to his feet. Gorman wings some looping punches and looks to be slowing before again working for a single leg. Gagnon easily fends it off, and the ref wants to see some action before restarting the fighters. Gorman fails on a takedown attempt and again has to fight off a guillotine when Gagnon pulls guard. He shifts to an armbar, but Gorman easily escapes and moves to half guard while on top. He closes out the round with some tired punches as Gagnon remains safe on his back. It’s another 10-9 frame for Gagnon.

Round 3 – Gagnon lands some solid countershots to start the round and then puts Gorman on his back. Gorman kicks his way free and gets to his feet before pressing Gagnon against the cage and looking for a takedown. Gagnon sprawls and fights it off, but Gorman is relentless with the attempt. Gagnon eventually breaks free, circles away, and lands body shots and a few punches to the head before sprawling to avoid another takedown attempt. Gagnon secures a front head lock before they separate. They trade punches, and Gagnon gets the better of it. They stall against the cage and are restarted, and Gagnon immediately throws punches and knees before shooting and score a nice double-leg takedown. Gagnon seems content on top, but Gorman looks for submissions from his back. He comes up empty, though. MMAjunkie scores it 10-9 for Gagnon for a 30-27 sweep.

Result: Mitch Gagnon def. Tim Gorman via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
