Both of them have horrible ground game, so this should be a standup kick boxing fight. I'd say Kongo can throw better strikes than Gonzaga, so he definitely has a chance.

Gonzaga's striking ability had nothing to do with his success over Mirko. It had to do with taking him down and throwing elbows to his head, Mirko said after the fight that he couldn't hardly see (or something was wrong) because of the elbows from the ground.

Does anyone think there's a chance CC will take him down and GNP? It seems like a strategy that can't go wrong after Kongo's last fight and it sounds like CC's worked a lot on his ground game. And consider his fight against Fedor. He obviously has pretty damn good defense skills.

It seems like he could stand with Kongo, wait for an opportunity to clinch (for instance, if he rocks Kongo), and then go for the takedown.

If you think this is a winning strategy, what is the chance he'll use it?

I was just thinking the exact same thing. It would be a great strategy IMO. But I doubt Mirko will do it, he is a very arrogant fighter.

I also noticed his ground defense is actually very good. Fedor looked to be stronger standing with Mirko then on top of him.

I agree 100%. Mirko's style was exciting to watch in the past, but I'd be even more excited to see him take Kongo down. I love watching fighters grow.

Well I wouldn't be too too suprised if CroCop went for a takedown, however I see it staying standing.

Pretty sure there is no mistake here that Joe Silva made this match with the intention for it to be a kick boxing war than an actual MMA showdown.

CroCop better be careful if he keeps it standing, When Kongo had it standing against Silva he was deadly in his attack.

Yes I realize that CroCop is a ton better than Silva, im just saying CroCop better be careful and not be too over confident like in one of his recent fights...

I think that this is gonna be a really good stand-up fight, but if Kongo starts winning the stand-up battle I see CroCop going for a takedown. Either way, my money's on Mirko Filipovic.

Randleman and Kongo have nothing in common besides being black.

CroCop is gonna kick Kongo's ass back to France. Kongo's a good striker, but Mirko's world class. And Kongo is HANDICAPPED on the ground.
