Round 1 – Cavalcante starts with an early low kick. Bader kicks to the body. Bader changes levels and brings the action to the floor. Cavalcante turns and stands, but Bader stay tight to the body. Bader drags him down again. Cavalcante right back to his feet. Bader refusing to let go of that bodylock, and he’s working in a few short knees. Cavalcante willingly goes to a knee as he defends against the fence. Bader finally lets go and backs away. Cavalcante fires out a sharp jab. Bader just slips a straight. Cavalcante striking definitely sharp. He reaches out for a big left hand, but Bader pulls away. Big, driving takedown from Bader. Cavalcante tries to work back to the fence. He does turn to his knees. Bader with a few left hands. Cavalcante turtles up as he defends. Bader working in short punches and elbows. Cavalcante just waiting for the bell. He makes it, but takes a big knee at the end, and it’s clearly Bader, 10-9.

Round 2 – Cavalcante with a spinning kick to the chest. Bader with a high kick. he fires a right hand and moves in for a takedown, but Cavalcante pushes him away. Bader using punches to get inside. Cavalcante defending well so far, hoping to stay upright and trade strikes. Bader moving well, not giving him a stationary target. Bader with a jab. He drives in again on a takedown. This time, he pushes through and gets the fight to the floor. Cavalcante again turning to a knee as Bader controls from the back. Bader driving in a few knees. Cavalcante finally gets to his feet, and we reset in the center. Cavalcante misses on a big left hand. Less than two minutes remain. Bader evading well on the feet, and he shoots inside yet again. Cavalcante defends this one, and they trade jabs. Boos from the crowd. Bader with a shot to the body and another takedown. He ends the round on top, and MMAjunkie gives it to Bader, 10-9.

Round 3 – Cavalcante lands a bog left hand to start. Bader wobbled a bit, and he shoots in on the takedown. Cavalcante really coming alive. Bader is hurt from the initial flurry. Bader shoots in. Cavalcante defends well, and he drives in a few elbows as Bader holds the body. They work in the clinch, and Cavalcante shoves Bader away. Bader actually falls to his back but scrambles up before Cavalcante can get on top. Bader immediately shoots inside. Cavalcante defends, and they work in the clinch. Referee Yves Lavigne breaks them apart. Bader shoots immediately on the restart. Crowd doesn’t necessarily like it, but it’s a smart strategy. Bader’s second effort gets the fight to the floor. Cavalcante turns to his side, and Bader punches away from the top. He’s bruising up the ribs. Cavalcante works to get full guard. He’s going to need something special. Bader in complete control after the initial trouble. He ends the round on top, and MMAjunkie gives him the frame, 10-9, as well as the fight, 30-27.

Result: Ryan Bader def. Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
